About the Bridges Program
Bridges Mentoring Program Mission:
To strengthen the self-esteem and social skills of children and youth by providing positive mentoring relationships at no cost to the youth or family.

Bridges Youth
Our program matches youth ages 5 to 17 residing in Mitchell County and/or attending the Osage, Riceville, or St. Ansgar school districts with screened and trained adult volunteer mentors. Bridges mentees have experienced adversity. This can include living in a low income or single parent household, experiencing divorce, poor social skills, academic struggles, bullying, an ill family member, loss of a family member, and mental health struggles. Youth are referred to the program by family, school staff, and community members. Contact us to receive a hard copy of the referral form, or submit digitally under the "GET INVOLVED" tab.
Bridges Mentors
Mentors in our program have successfully completed the application, screening and training process. They have chosen to make the commitment to spend at least one hour per week with their mentee for a minimum of one year. Bridges mentors have the abilities to listen and accept different points of view, empathize with others, see solutions as well as barriers, and are patient and flexible. More information about being a mentor can be found under the "MENTORS" tab. You can also digitally submit a volunteer application HERE.
